The Color Purple (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

This musical came to be based on the undying efforts of Oprah Winfrey, who produced this adaptation. Based on Alice Walker's novel and the Steven Spielberg movie, The Color Purple tells the triumphant tale of Celie, a woman whose life, it seemed is filled with sadness and abuse. Despite all the shortcomings, Celie grew up to be a strong woman whose shy character grew stronger as she accepts her life and does her best in her many unselfish ways. LaChanze shines in the role of Celie, a role which was created on film by Whoopi Goldberg. Fantasia Barrino later replaced LaChanze and LaKeisha Jones joined the cast as Sophia, Oprah's role in the movie.

Thanks for posting/sharing! I LOVED the music from the movie so I am hopeful that there is a connection to the broadway version.
