This is my favourite Stephen Sondheim musical. I love fairy tales and this musical is half the fairy tale and half 'what happens after the happily ever after'. Bernadette Peters, considered one of the leading Sondheim interpreters and also considered his muse, plays the part of the witch. This musical was filmed for a PBS special and available as a single DVD and also as part of a box-set.

Laura Branigan - Hold Me

Of all her cds, this is probably Laura Branigan's rarest. It was moderately successful and paled after Self Control. So far, it has never been rereleased. Hits include Spanish Eddie. Two other notable tracks are Forever Young, a remake of Alphaville's hit, and I Found Someone, which became Cher's comeback hit in the late 80s.

Laura Branigan - Self Control

Laura Branigan's 3rd is Self Control. The title track is based on an European hit, like her signature song Gloria. The video of Self Control was the centre of controversy and was banned by MTV which described one scene as a sexual orgy. Laura fought the ban with unfortunate consequences, her subsequent videos hardly received any showing on the station. This was MTV pre-Madonna. Self Control is one of Laura's best albums.
